Je ne pense pas prendre de trop grands risques en affirmant haut et fort que Marathon Man (1976) est l’un des plus grands (et des plus beaux) thrillers des années 70.Adapté du roman éponyme de William Goldman, John Schlesinger (Macadam Cowboy - 1969) nous entraîne au cœur d’un épuisant & palpitant thriller, brillamment mis en scène à travers lequel il nous replonge au cœur des années 70, sur fond de post-maccarthysme et de chasses aux nazis.Ce thriller démarre pourtant de la plus étrange des façons.
Son rythme est lent et se découpe en trois intrigues différentes pour mieux se regrouper (l’une à Paris, l’autre à New York et la dernière dans la jungle équatoriale).
