Just an all around fun kaiju movie for all ages to sit and watch and not worry too much about logic. One of the least eventful movies in the series so far; there's not much kaiju action until the last 15 minutes or so, and while we're watching the clock, noticing that there's not much time left and Godzilla *still* hasn't re-emerged after getting his ass kicked earlier in the movie, it suddenly pauses for a full-length musical number. during the King Ceasar beach song when she launched into a second verseSomehow it took until now for me to realise just how poor the female characters of this series are. The only exceptions perhaps is the original Godzilla (his first movie) and the first appearance of Monster Zero.

Godzillafilm. ! Very enjoyable Godzilla film. With Masaaki Daimon, Kazuya Aoyama, Reiko Tajima, Akihiko Hirata. "The Criterion Collection, a continuing series of important classic and contemporary films"It's still cheesy as hell, but the film finds that balance between cheese and cool that the franchise had sorta lost for the last few films. The Japanese government finds the bones of the 1954 Godzilla to create the ultimate weapon... MECHAGODZILLA - to eliminate this second Godzilla. I like the genre kaleidoscope this is, Godzilla blended with Bond, an alien invasion story and for some reason a pinch of Planet of the Apes as well.Throw me in movie jail!

As stated earlier, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla is a very rudimentary film, so full of plot elements that in some cases things make little to no sense.

Mechagodzilla is a great Kaiju antagonist both design and strength wise and really gives Godzilla a run for its money. Most importantly, THIS MOVIE IS IN JAPANESE WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES. It contains two-dimensional characters and ham-fisted TV style acting.
